Your Path to Literacy: The English with GG Philosophy

Welcome to English with GG! Think of me as your personal, green-thumbed gardener on a mission. My philosophy is simple: I view every student's potential like a tiny, ambitious seed. I'm here to provide the perfect soil, water, and sunlight so that seed can grow into a strong, resilient tree, reaching toward endless possibilities. Learning should be so engaging, you forget you're doing work—and maybe, just maybe, we'll laugh a little along the way.

🇺🇸 For My English-Speaking Students (K-12 Literacy & Enrichment)

I design every session for my native English speakers based on your unique brain wiring. My background—spanning psychology, sociology, childhood development, and even mythology—is the secret sauce. These fancy degrees just mean I'm equipped to understand why you learn the way you do, adapting my lessons for everything from reluctant readers to gifted writers.

Customized Learning Isn't a Luxury—It's Comedy Central:

I tailor my approach to your child's personality. Whether your student is a future engineer who needs structure or a little drama queen who needs an engaging story, I can adapt.

Why I am Heavy on Phonics (and Ditch the Sight Word Scam):

Let’s talk about reading, specifically how I train your brain to master the code. I am heavy on phonics because I believe sight words alone are the fast-food of reading instruction. Sure, they taste good (you can recognize a few words right away!), but they leave you nutritionally deprived in the long run. My phonics-based approach teaches the building blocks—the sounds and rules—so that when your student encounters a massive, intimidating word like "congratulations," they don't panic. Instead, they can simply decode it, syllable by glorious syllable. I'm building a long-term reading powerhouse here, rooted in strong foundational knowledge (just like a tree!), not just memorizing flashcards for tomorrow's pop quiz.

🧠 Adaptive Instruction: My Expertise with Neurodiverse Learners

I understand that focusing, processing information, and maintaining structure can be the biggest challenges for students. That's why I hold a specific Certification in Working with Neurodiverse Students, giving me specialized expertise in creating effective learning paths for those with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyslexia, and other unique learning profiles.

How I Adapt:

Structure: Lessons are broken down into short, manageable blocks with clear visual and verbal cues to minimize cognitive load.

Flexibility: While structure is key, lessons are flexible. I use movement breaks and shift activities immediately if focus is lost.

Sensory Awareness: I ensure the online/in-person environment is as predictable and calm as possible to reduce sensory input overload.

What I Cover:

My lessons focus on strengthening the core areas that often pose challenges:

Executive Functioning: Skills for planning, organization, and task initiation.

Phonological Awareness: Explicit, multisensory training to connect sounds and letters (critical for Dyslexia).

Reading Comprehension: Using high-interest materials and visual aids to build understanding.

Social/Conversational English: Practicing spontaneous speaking and role-playing with puppets in a safe environment (particularly helpful for students on the Autism spectrum).

🌐 For My ESL/EFL Students: Specialized Fluency

For my students learning English as a second language, you deserve instruction that meets you exactly where you are!

This is where my professional credentials come in:

I hold specialized TEFL certifications (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) in online teaching, along with a level 5 TEFL certificate, ensuring I use proven methodologies to quickly build fluency, grammar, and pronunciation skills. I have extensive experience knowing how to teach effectively both online and in-person, giving you total flexibility.

The Inclusive Approach:

My broad perspective allows me to connect with students from all backgrounds, nationalities, cultures, and races, making sure my lessons feel relevant, never alien. I genuinely enjoy learning about different customs and cultures, making your journey to English proficiency a shared adventure! I'm here to teach English, but I'm also here to celebrate that beautiful "rainbow of possibilities" that is your family's unique culture!
