Transitioning from Traditional Spanish to Uruguayan Spanish: My Family's Journey to Fluency

Learning a new language often feels like unlocking a door to a new world. For my family and me, Spanish has been that door. Growing up in Southern California, Spanish was always around me, making many aspects of the language come naturally. Yet, despite this early exposure, our journey to fluency has been far from straightforward. Now, as we prepare to move from northeastern Ohio to Uruguay by February 2027, we face a new challenge: shifting from traditional Spanish to the unique flavor of Uruguayan Spanish.
