Why I Keep My Tutoring Rates Accessible for Immigrants (And How We Can Work Together)
Moving to a new country and building a life in a second language takes immense courage.
While the U.S. often celebrates diversity and presents itself as a welcoming melting pot, the everyday reality for many immigrants is not always smooth. Living or working with a heavy accent (or little to no English) can be exhausting. Too often, people face impatience, misunderstanding, or unfair assumptions about their intelligence and capabilities simply because of how they sound.

A heavy accent or a few mixed-up words should never overshadow the incredible, capable person you are.
Language barriers shouldn’t hold you back from excelling in your studies, sharing your unique perspective with your community, or securing the income and career growth you deserve. I keep my rates intentionally accessible so that immigrants living in the U.S.—as well as those preparing to arrive—have an encouraging, high-quality space to build communication skills with total confidence.
Here is how my two distinct learning tracks are structured:
1. General & Conversational English — $20 / hour
This track focuses on day-to-day fluency, practical literacy, and personal confidence.
What we work on: Natural conversation practice, real-world grammar, reading comprehension, pronunciation support, idioms, and simple functional writing.
Who it is for: Anyone looking to feel comfortable running errands, speaking up in social circles, communicating with schools or neighbors, and overcoming the anxiety of speaking English in daily American life.
2. Business, Academic & Test Preparation — $35 / hour
This track is designed for career-focused professionals, university students, and test-takers who need intensive, high-stakes coaching.
What we work on: Targeted workplace goals, executive presentation review, professional email composition, train-the-trainer preparation, and standardized exam preparation (such as IELTS Bands 7–9).
Why the higher rate: This tier requires substantial unpaid preparation on my end outside of our scheduled time. I take the time to research your specific industry, evaluate and grade written essays and business documents, and build custom assignments between sessions to ensure you hit your targets.
The English with GG Difference
Across both tiers, every program is built around two core principles:
Fully Customized Learning: Lessons are never one-size-fits-all, and we don't do dry, page-by-page textbook drilling. Everything is adapted to your specific goals, background, and personal learning style as we get to know each other.
Open Communication Between Classes: Real-world questions don’t wait for lesson day. You are always welcome to text me whenever confusing emails, unfamiliar phrases, or tricky workplace interactions come up during the week so we can quickly solve them and break them down directly in our next class.
